Sinus Augmentation Contraindication: Treatment with a HUG® Subperiosteal Implant
This 62-year-old patient presented with an oroantral communication and long-standing chronic sinusitis.
The patient did not wish to undergo sinus augmentation or receive conventional endosseous implants.
Treatment was therefore performed using a custom-made HUG® subperiosteal implant, featuring two prosthetic multi-unit abutments.
The implant was manufactured from 3D-printed titanium and submerged during the initial surgical procedure. It was covered with a biomaterial (such as Collapate®) and a porcine dermal membrane (NovoMatrix®) to promote soft tissue integration and long-term tissue stability.
A second-stage surgery for implant exposure and prosthetic rehabilitation will be performed 4 months after the initial procedure.
This patient was treated by Dr Antoine Diss and Dr Laurine Birault at Arenas Dentistes, Nice, France.
